old lwj i drew way back when this was a thing but nvr posted :โ{
Ever since his parents died, Wei Ying has been terrified of sharks...
Let Wei Wuxian live a peaceful farmer life with his husband and son !
The last part ! I didnโt want this to end on a sad note ;) Thank you @howdydowdy your tags give me life, iโm really glad you enjoyed this AU !
part 1 - part 2 - part 3
Third part of my Mulan AU ! Wei Wuxian used demonic cultivation to save Lan Wangjiโs life and exposed himself. LWJ has no choice but to banish him.
So sorry about the angst, it wasnโt originally part of the plan ;)
part 1 - part 2 - part 4
โฆaaaand hereโs a continuation for my Mulan AU ! I hope you guys like it, because there might be another one on the way ;)
part 1 - part 3 - part 4
Inspired by @sarah-yyy โs rebuttable presumption verse - Lan Wangji goes to war and Wei Wuxian follows to protect the man he loves <3 <3
Please go read it, itโs amazing !!
Everybody lives and Jiang Yanli gets to meet her nephew
(edit: I just realized I drew wwx's robes backwards...)
How Lan Wangji became a daddy father !
Yiling Laozu and his baby boy
So I found this scene reaaally interesting ! WWX teaches the ducklings juniors not to trust prejudices. I couldnโt help linking this to his own situation:ย
16 years have passed. The new generation (the juniors) is the first to have never known the Yilling Patriarch. They never had the chance to build their own opinion about him and can only trust what they were taught by the elders.
So WWX incites them to check things themselves intead of relying on hearsay and first impressions.
They are WWXโs only chance to finally be understood. :โ( The juniors were taught to fear and resent him. In return, he teaches them to confront their fears and to understand them !
WWX is the best teacher ever, we stan our YP <3 <3 <3

Director *in the loudspeaker* : hEy ! YOu tWo shOuLD KISS

I read a LOT of fanfic and so I figured why not share the stories I enjoyed reading on a weekly bases. My goal is to (hopefully) post each Monday sharing the fics I enjoyed from multiple fandoms. These lists will not include every fic I read over the week but the ones I especially liked. (I might include fic Iโm rereading but idk yet.)
So, I really got into The Untamed on Netflix a couple of months ago which lead me to watching the donghua before reading the book. After that, I discovered Heaven Officialโs Blessing. In other words, Iโve gotten a little obsessed with these new worlds and fandoms and have been mainly reading fics from these two fandoms.

๐๐๐๐๐๐๐: Lan Zhan/Lan Wangji x Wei Ying/Wei Wuxian ๐๐๐๐: Complete | Teen | 1 Chapter | 15.7K Words | Soulmate AU
๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ : โWei Ying,โ he manages, a breathy croak, and peers past his eyelashes to watch those Grey eyes widen. They swirl with more emotions than he can name at the moment- emotions that he has not seen in those eyes for years, and his heart aches further as he watches the other swallow visibly, trembling hands reaching up to tentatively hold his own outstretched one, though they pass through each other like the other is made of mist.
โLan Zhan,โ Wei Ying breathes, and the shadows under his eyes darken as his face scrunches up, looking like heโs about to cry.
๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐:ย I adore all different types of soulmate auโs and have never read one like this before. The idea is honestly really tragic because you can love someone your whole life and then you only find out when they die that they were not your soulmate. I would definitely love to read more fics with this type of soulmate au.

๐๐๐๐๐๐๐: Lan Zhan/Lan Wangji x Wei Ying/Wei Wuxian ๐๐๐๐: Complete | Teen | 1 Chapter | 9.8K Words | Soulmate AU | Suicide
๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ : Lan Zhan learns several things that day. He learns that his soulmate has been injured on the shoulder- that, judging by his description, they have probably been bitten by a canine of some sort. He learns that his soulmate may not be living as sheltered life as preferred, considering that fact. And he learns the name for the emotion that had sent his heart into overdrive.
Lan Zhan learns that day that he does not like Fear at all.
๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐: I actually read this fic after The Cruelty of Fate and didnโt realize for a while it was by the same author. One of the things I like the most is we get to see more of an inside to Lan Zhanโs emotions and feelings. This fic did make me fairly emotion though, especially when we get to the siege of the Burial Mounds.ย

๐๐๐๐๐๐๐: Hua Cheng/San Lang x Xie Lian ๐๐๐๐: Complete | Mature | 7 Chapters | 37K Words | Soulmate AU | Depression | Suicide
๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ : By seventeen, Xie Lian has accepted not having a fated partner, only to feel the connection form the day of the God-Pleasing Festival. While he canโt understand a word of what the person writes at first, following Xie Lianโs ascension, San Lang becomes his most trusted confidant. No matter how many times Xie Lian asks to meet, however, San Lang refuses.
Years later, when war finally brings them face to face, the circumstances are tragic.
Banished to the mortal realm and cut off from San Lang, Xie Lian struggles to support his parents, gradually slipping into despair. San Langโs spirit returns to him, refusing to leave the mortal realm while Xie Lian is in it. But after only a brief happiness together, the faceless ghost who destroyed his kingdom returns, taking San Lang from him again, and Xie Lian has to trust that their connection is strong enough to bring him back.
๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐:ย I really enjoyed how the difference of Xie Lian and San Lang being soul mates makes to the overall story we already know. I especially love how we get to see San Lang comforting and supporting Xie Lian when he is going through a rough time.

๐๐๐๐๐๐๐: Feng Xin x Mu Qing | Hua Cheng/San Lang x Xie Lian ๐๐๐๐: Complete | Mature | 3 Chapters | 34K Words | Suicide | Modern AU
๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ : It had been a decade since Xie Lian passed on.
Feng Xin shouldโve let the past stay in the past, but when he found out his old best friendโs house was going to be demolished after being on the market for so long with no buyers, he made a stupid decision. He actually bought the house. He knew it would come with baggage, but he didnโt realize the baggage would come in the form of ghosts.
๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐: I had not ready any Feng Xin x Mu Qing fics until this one (even though I was mostly focused on hualian) and I actually kinda liked it. Anyways, this is an amazing modern au that did great job at keeping true to the characters. I also really enjoyed how we get to read about how Xie Lian is able to come to terms with everything that has happened to him and get his happy ending.
You have questions!ย We might have answers.
As Maria puts it: this collection is a critical look at some of the things that we, the editors, think have made CQL such a hit around the world. Of course, part of that success comes from the webnovel MDZS and the show CQL themselvesโwe love the characters, the mystery, and the drama, who doesnโt?! However, the authors in our book also look at topics like translating danmei (both officially and unofficially), adapting danmei for new audiences, and interacting with fandoms and fanworks. The larger argument of the book is that all of these things played a huge role in CQLโs visibility and success, and we wanted to start making those moving pieces visible, especially for audiences who mainly watched CQL in translation.
Maria: Ok, not to get pedantic here, but this actually touches on some things that Iโm really excited about for the book. Traditionally, academic work is written by people who have a deep expertise in the subject (signified by having a PhD and doing specific kinds of research), and then the work itself is peer-reviewed (i.e., sent to other experts in the field for them to evaluate whether itโs sound, original, and interesting enough to publish, without knowing who wrote it). And both of these things are true about our bookโour authors have deep knowledge and the book was peer reviewedโbut also. We specifically asked for chapters from younger scholars and from fans who also have deep knowledge about topics that academia doesnโt always know or value enough, and we include an interview from the fan-translator K. who did the Exiled Rebels translation. So the hope is that: this book is academic, and alsoโmore!
Yue studies adaptation, fantasy, and popular culture texts using a feminist lens. She wrote an early, influential article about danmeiย adaptations and also has a book about feminist adaptations of Chinese fantasy.
Maria studies fanworks, contemporary fantasy, and genre literature. Sheโs scrambling to finish her dissertation right now.
Voluntarily! The concept of a small social media promo was kicked around by some of the contributors and those interested in the idea filled out a short interview with what they wanted to share. We'll be posting about 2 introductions and 2 spotlights a day for the next week or so!
LOL not even remotely
