Dive Deep into Creativity: Discover, Share, Inspire
On the board. Water color and India ink.
Hey, look. I drew some keywork 'cuz I was bored. Then I inked it, really really badly.
True story.
I might do more of these, they're good practice. Straight lines aren't exactly my strong point.
On paper, this is 12 cm across... just under five inches. I really should be able to manage one about half as big, we'll see how that turns out.
This is what I feel like when I wake up in the morning.
I suppose you could call this vent art, but it really didn't start out that way. My motivations when I began were to do a figure of some sort, draw someting post-worthy, and to ink the blazes outta of something. I think I got two out of three.
As far as vent art goes, I think its good for art to be inspired by the artists experiences... but when the work is self indulgent or self gratifying, the work sours. I think I got away with it here, mostly because the figure isn't in anguish or anything... just weary.
Not gonna go into what I don't like about it... I brushed the rust off my pen nibs, and that was what I set out to do.
I did finally manage to get comments working on this here blog... at least, I'm pretty sure they're working. Lemme know what you think, I love hearing peoples thoughts.
Made this 3-page comic when I was doing SAIC's ECPSI last summer, I think it has good vibes
I doubt Evan even has a tumblr but if you see this!! Hey buddy!

Inktober 2018 Day 27
“Thunder”
This one is meh, though I like the general composition with the dragon being struck by lightning. Everything I gets kinda lost in this one though.

Inktober 2018 Day 26
“Stretch”
Hands have always been kinda difficult for me, so I’m glad that I’m finally enjoying drawing them. I didn’t know how this one would turn out and I was kinda iffy when I first started inking, but somehow in the end it turned out ok.

Inktober 2018 Day 25
“Prickly”
Had fun with this guy, though for some reason to me his face shape doesn’t interest me at all. Oh well, such is life and art. I did my best and it’s time to move on. I’ll have yall know that I finished Inktober on the 31st, just as always posting is the hardest part for me.
Inktober 2018 Day 24
“Chop”
Honestly had no idea what to do for this one, so just defaulted to something with a hand. I guess the hand is getting chopped by another dimension??? Idk but it was fun, I tried watering down the ink and instead of using a brush, I just used my crowquill as normal, and that was quite enjoyable so I’m definitely doing it again.
Inktober 2018 Day 23
“Muddy”
THIS ONE WAS SO MUCH FUN HOLY SHIT. I love drawing feet and fur, so had a blast with this one. But you better watch out, because this guy does NOT appreciate you pushing him into the mud. In fact, might wanna start running pretty quick.

Inktober 2018 Day 22
“Expensive”
Cool plants are always dang expensive, so I drew and orchid. These guys are so cool and I would love to own one, but I always find conflicting information on how to water them so that they will actually live. Plus idk if they would like the temperatures of where I live.
Got a little to eager with my brush when the india ink wasn’t quite dry so it smudged DX.

Inktober 2018 Day 21
“Drain”
HE’S NOT DOING DRUGS. He just had surgery and I guess cat-people have different vein placement than us, so the IV was put there and not in his hand. I didn’t quite get the pose correct, he’s supposed to be more slouched, but eh I still like it.

Inktober 2018 Day 15
“Weak”
These are more words than a drawing, but it’s something I think a great deal about. I find the whole concept that men don’t cry is bullshit and weak. If a person cries in front of you, I see that as a huge strength, as they are willingly showing a weakness to another person. That takes immense strength to do..... not to mention crying is a literal way to dump excess emotions in the form of chemicals from the body.
Inktober 2018 Day 14
“Clock”
Object heads have always been cool to me. Thus this guy. As soon as I got him sketched out, I realized that this guys is like, my first official oc. I have made a whole slew of creatures, but never a personalized creature that would be fun to play around with. Names are usually a hard thing for me, but as soon as I saw him, his name was Hatchet.

Inktober 2018 Day 13
“Guarded”
I’ve always loved the concept of natural guardians to these mystical places that humans are not allowed to enter. You go beasties, protect your magic shit~

Inktober 2018 Day 8
“Star”
To be honest, I attempted this one twice, but I hated the first attempt because its was waaaaayyy too dark. It kinda got my spirits down, so I just kinda gave up for this day and did this which was much easier.
INKTOBER IS IN THE WORKS AND I AM UP TO DATE! I make sure i am by cutting 2 pieces of bristol paper into 15 and 16 pieces respectively and then draw on each of those for each days prompt. All 19 are done, just gotta take pics with a better camera than the one on my phone.

Titled: Toxic Tides
So I decided that I’m gonna do Inktober 2018 whether I like it or not, so here’s Day 1: Poisonous

Titled: The Smoke I Bleed

Idk how long this damn thing took, but I’m glad it’s finally done and I can move on with my life. The stippling for the smoke definitely took the longest and if the chance comes up again I wouldn’t do it again (that’s a lie i know I would do it again…. just with a few months in between. Crosshatching is much easier). I get why people say to stretch for this stuff though. It kills the neck for the hours it takes.
Edit: idk why it says that the first pic is from that other blog??

This is just a beastie that I’ve had a sketch of lying around for a while. Decided to finally get the design done and inked it with my beloved india ink. Surprisingly, these are starting to take a lot less time, probably cause I’m getting more comfortable with the medium, along with being not as stiff with mistakes.
Lots of fun and got more stuff like this in the works.
A thing I’ve been working on for the past day or so, completed 3-18-18. Had this in the lineart sketchbook for a long while now, but decided to just get it done and over with. Took about 10-15 hours to do, which was longer than Indigestion’s time to finish, which was around a few hours. That’s probably ‘cause I took way more time with the lineart on this one than the previous, so I’m gonna try to keep that stage on the down low and simple next time around. I want these things to just go faster so that I can get stuff out faster. This one allowed me to play more with shading, and I like what I did with the background, what with the increasing lightness as you go down. Was great fun to do, and am excited for the next project. The next one is likely to be a piece with more tight lineart and no shading, so look forward to it.
Art titled The Overseer

This beast here was going to be a part of my Inktober 2016 work, but then I decided that it would be cool to have a stippled background... which means that I finished it about three months after. Stippling is a pain in the ass my friends. I have recovered though. Just means that this piece was the entirety of my Inktober work, and more. I'm pretty satisfied with it though because of the crosshatching on the body of the beast that contrasts with the background stippling. He was actually inspired off of a little lamp that sits on my art desk. I was just looking for simple forms of inspirations and BAm, Light Beast.
