I’m gonna ask a bunch of narumistu shippers this but how do you think Iris would react seeing that happen? Also how would your dream Narumitsu wedding play out, and would pearl be invited? I just have so many questions! I also love your art!❤️❤️❤️

I don’t usually talk about these kinds of things of my own accord but I DO think about this literally all the time and I love thinking about character dynamics n stuff so I will take this as permission to talk about some of my thoughts lmao

Iris

If you’re talking about how Iris would react to narumitsu in general, I’ve got a lot of thoughts on the matter

All things considered and as sad as this sounds, I think iris is pretty familiar with this kind of feeling and would handle it well outwardly. Considering the time they spent together in college, I think she would be pretty familiar with Phoenix's feelings about miles and his plans about going into law on top of art, so it's probably not exactly completely unexpected to her

Iris may have had a lot of time to get over him, but also with all that time with zero contact with him until bridge to turnabout, she's never had to address her feelings until she's metaphorically and literally staring the issue right in the face.

Phoenix, on the other hand, is forced to confront this event and any lingering emotions and issues he had afterwards right away. That event was a MAJOR turning point for his whole life. He got accused of murder, he ate glass (cough), his girlfriend apparently hates him ???, he met Mia, and overall everything has been turned upside down for him. He can't just ignore it or forget about it or pretend nothing happened like Iris could, and by now, his feelings have dulled. They definitely both still have lingering feelings about each other, but both of them end up dealing with them in completely different ways

Iris is definitely going to be feeling a LOT of pain over both seeing him again and seeing him with someone else, regardless of how prepared for it she tells herself she is. It's human to hurt when you see someone you cared about move on from you to someone else. There's a lot of guilt and blame that she carries from the incident, ESPECIALLY when she has to confront her emotions and him face to face.

But Iris is not a petty person or a grudge holder, unlike Dahlia, and she cares a lot about Phoenix. She's also not an idiot. As much it makes her heart ache, she knows her chance has passed and that Phoenix has moved on, even if Iris is still working on that herself. She will heal with time. Despite everything, I think she is an incredibly strong person.

Though it's going to hurt (a lot), I think that regardless, she'd be really happy for them.

Wedding

In terms of a wedding I don't actually think about that all too much yet dfjkfhfs I haven't gotten anywhere past the pw trilogy so I don't actually know all too much about anything post-trials and tribulations yet. (despite that I do have a whole narumitsu progression timeline. aside from the pining that they both think is one sided, there is a whole lot of nothing until AFTER the 7 year gap. they don't actually get together until after that. god they are so infuriatingly slowburn i hate them)

Anyways as hilarious as I think "pearl is homophobic" is, she's still a kid. We can't completely fault a kid who doesn't know better and never really had the chance to learn. I think it'd take a lot of work on Maya's part to be able to give her a proper explanation (if nick tried to explain anything he'd just end up getting pearl-slapped and things would go nowhere probably, its all up to maya here), but I figure pearl eventually comes around with some help and is like SUPER involved in everything. Her passion for romance n stuff just gets switched to nick and edgeworth instead of maya and nick

Once I'm more familiar with all of the other characters and the events of post-pw trilogy I'll definitely have a lot more ideas

An essay about Iris Hawthorne

So I will preface this by saying that I am not an Iris hater but she never sat right with me after Bridge to the Turnabout. I'm a biased Narumitsu shipper but I do entertain other ships (helllllloooooo Langworth) but I couldn't get behind Feenris for a few reasons.

She's a victim, yes, but she's complicit as an accessory to crimes. We last see her serving time for covering up the murder of Misty Fey but this is just the one that caught up with her. There's been at least two times she was at least privy to Dahlia's crimes (the fake kidnapping plot, Valerie's murder, Diego's poisoning) but the real issue in my mind is that she did nothing after the fact.

Firstly, she could have spoken up after the kidnapping plot but did not. We could give her the benefit of the doubt and say that she didn't know that Dahlia was even alive, or that she could plead ignorance to what actually happened, but this is only the first incidence in a damning thread. Also, she still could have at least passed information along that suggested the kidnapping was not all that it seemed, given that Dahlia had tried to recruit her. And, if she believed Dahlia to be dead, what was stopping her from speaking out?

Secondly, and I'm putting her deception during her relationship with Phoenix to the side here for a second, why didn't she do anything when he was arrested for a murder he didn't commit? It's hard to be generous here because Iris was privy to all of Dahlia's plans (Violet, Fawles, Diego Armando) except the one involving Phoenix, but that's only because Dahlia kept her in the dark intentionally because Iris would have sabotaged it. However, she had to have been aware of what happened in the aftermath. Doug Swallows was murdered and Dahlia was, once again, at the center of it all. It was Mia, not Iris, who saved Phoenix. There's no evidence to suggest Iris was somehow unable to take action because she just went back to Hazakura afterwards. She never provides any excuse as to why she failed Phoenix when he needed her the most.

Now, back to Phoenix, here's where it gets fun. I am going to posit that her falling in love with Phoenix and wanting to protect him from Dahlia is for her benefit, not his. This is also, ironically, the first time Iris does something selfish. She fell in love with him and wouldn't let Dahlia kill him, but that's because for the first time in her life she wanted something. But I can't accept this protectiveness as romance. If she wanted what was best for him, she would have done something, anything either before this point or at the time of his arrest even if it meant getting into trouble. She, once again, chose to obscure the truth and instead did nothing.

Further to that, I can't accept her actions at Bridge to the Turnabout as anything but self-serving. She continued to hide the truth until it was presented to her. It was only at the eleventh hour that she confessed she loved Phoenix all along. It doesn't exactly inspire much confidence in her motives.

Now, all of this actually makes her a more interesting character in my eyes, so again, this isn't an Iris hate essay. Ace Attorney Re-ishdesigns!

aka me being absolutely bored out of my mind to try and create different designs for characters that would be interesting to have in a trilogy together!

Notes below!

So kept it simple with Phoenix and Miles. I honestly don't mind their designs overall and felt it'd be important to simply keep a simple idea with them.

I do kind of think Miles' coat is a little awkward loooking in the games, so fuck it -- give this man the long waist coat

I also added elements of Kay and Trucy because dadworth and dadnix! <3 (plus Franziska earring)

Lastly, I decided to give Phoenix two different kinds of shoes. Yes, he's theoretically like- the big boss and i guess professionallism but fuck it, i stand for phoenix wearing sneakers for the CONVENIENCE

Next is... Kay and Trucy!

I'll be honest, it's hard to redesign Trucy. But I don't know about her 3D model... something feels off.

So, I decided to go with a white dress shirt-ish look.

I also think, since Phoenix calls Trucy her shining light, it'd be interesting if she switched to a star motif, which is where I get all my choices for the simplified cloak and emblem on it.

But she still has a heart ida-bag from Edgeworth and Kay!

Finally! Smug Kay

I don't have many notes on her design, it being more for looks and a practical aspect than anything. But! It matches nicely with trucy and edgeworth's while also being distinctly hers.

no phoenix because i didn't really wanna add anything blue I suppose? If there was soemthing from pheonix, it'd be hidden, like playing cards!

It was fairly easy what I wanted for Apollo and Athena

Apollo - JACKET, Khur'ain clothing (from staying there for a few years), scars, and EAARING!!

Jacket's similar to Clay's and his adopted dad (have not seen any gameplay of aa5-6, so I don't know all of the significance yet...)

Khurain clothing is from his vest, sort of like a button open up

He has his scars from aa5 and earring's from Trucy and Phoenix!

I need his actual in-game deign to incorporate- like- the things in his life PLEASE

Athena - Athletic and spunky + implementation of headphones!

Everything is pretty similar from her old design and what many other redesigns from other artists have,

Catch is that I added suspenders that matches with Phoenix's, changed her tie, sneakers, and short hair!

Most assymetrical symmetrical design I could think of... (unintentionally)

OH ALSO EYEBROW NOTCH FOR ATHENA, ODD EYEBROW TRIO COMPLETE!!!

Lastly!! Iris, Adrian, and Pearly!!

I've recently gotten a little crazy over Adrian x Iris art from @handsometimr and I think it's honestly a really cool potential dynamic <33

SO YOU GET THAT, I GUESS?

Pearl, I'd imagine, would still be trying to stick to her training and actually - for a good period during the 7 year gap - lived with Iris and the familiar Adrian!

I kept Pearl in her outfit, but with a jacket and seashell to clip into her hair. (agaain, idk what happened in aa5 so-- just making ideas up)

Iris and Adrian!! Either engaged, married, gfs IDK

Adrian's outfit is pretty based of her design in aa3

but Iris is to be basically breaking out of her form, doing whatever she wants, but still keeping a little piece of Dhalia with her through the necklace.

But ofc, short hair and braids. perfect <33
